Mary Jane Takes the Plunge

Look who went in the water this week! Isn't she beautiful?
Things are going swimmingly even if it's all been a bit wild.

New Job
And still working old job too
Car trouble
Sharing remaining car with teenagers
Everyone works (good)
In different towns at different times (challenging)
Got burnt to a crisp in Rockport Harbor (fun but dumb)
Big picnic 4th of July (yipee!)
Airstream to become studio (Hooray!)

Spring Flowers on the Solstice

This sweet girl made it downstairs all on her own. A mystery since in place of legs, she was made with a small block of wood. She is very sturdy when she sits. Helps keep her from swooning over the lovely blossoms from our field.

The rest of the family are wondering which ones we can eat!

At Home

It's so nice to be at home, if only for fleeting moments.

Happy Father's Day!

This is my picture for Asparagus Green.

Locust Blossoms

The hunter-gatherer trio set forth with eyes trained to the roadside trees. On the lookout for sweet smelling locust blossoms. Our reward, lotus blossom fritters! So delicate, such fun to eat, grasping the slender stalks and crunching.

Poodle Parade

It was a poodle weekend. I traveled south to give my dear friend Jane a helping hand. She's still not out of the woods with her cancer, has two up-coming events she must travel to and is moving the 1st of July. So Nurse Ratchet was transformed to personal assistant! I helped organize the house, cleaned out the basement and planned and organized her wardrobe for travel. As always it was a lot of fun. I was treated Indian food, a treat hard to come by in my neck of the woods. Our walks were enhanced with bounding poodles! A constant comedy show.
The fridge was stocked with Kombucha! Rows and rows of it! Citrus, Passionberry, Guava Goddess and regular old regular.
I managed to finally finish Shedir. I ran out of the Frog Tree Cotton Silk and so finished the last 16 rows with Rowan Cotton Wool. The colors match perfectly. It washed up OK too. Follow the link above to the Girl from Auntie or look for the pattern at knitty.com, I got it there but couldn't find it today. It is the suprise pattern. Oh I forgot, I took out one full repeat, and it fits Jane perfectly...I dried it in the dryer too. I confess.

So send all your good thoughts Jane's way. And no, she's not running for president, though that is her picture!

Abundance

Remember this? Beautiful yes, but oh how welcome the green! Everything is bursting! The lilacs are just finishing, the woodstove is now a place to put flowers. I've been spending lots of time outdoors, so sorry for the spotty blogging!

Breakfast obsession

breakfast, originally uploaded by maryjanemidgemink.

I'd say I'm not really one for breakfast, I so often forget to eat it, I impulsively fly out the door, late, late, late. When I do remember to take time, it is glorious! simple, straightforward food for the most part. Occasionaly odd and interesting, like brunch at Senor Moose.
Brunch was a thing for a while when I lived in New York, mostly because we were just getting home around that time, from an evening out....Vaselka, La Luncheonette, Blue Willow, Juniors, Kiev....

I ment to post this in time for Sunday Brunch, but I was off a day...seems like I never know what day it is anymore...maybe that's a good thing.
