The Real July

Only it is August. The cherries were super-abundant this year. After weeks of rain, they ripened all at once, overnight. Exactly corresponding to the time no one in the family could pick them, provided they could even reach them, the tree is now so tall. Sophie made a couple of Pies and the Uber-husband (who picked most of them) pitted and preserved the rest in Eau de Vie, a french spirit, crystal clear and probably deadly-potent. No cooking involved, they'll keep for years. So I got some bright red alpaca and also pretty grass green. I'm going to knit me some little birdies.
