Montreal for a Millisecond

so so

I travel quite a bit to Montréal, zooming 5.5 hours across Quebec and Maine. I rarely get to stay very long, usually just overnight. I've tried several times to visit yarn shops or this time a crafty little shop but I am always thwarted! Atelier Woodenapples was closed unexpectedly, but I did get a nice shot of the tired Birthday Girl with her new Mohair and Alpaca Instant Mittens. I also made her some Llama and Wool ones out of a variegated yarn. I always like variegated yarn in the hank so much better than the finished knitting....which always looks so kindergarten to me. In any case they were fast and will be warm. Need to be, still TONS of snow! Crazy parking in Montréal too, you just back up into a snowbank and call it good!

Like how you describe varig.yarn. I totally agree!

Hi
My name is Amy and I'm the owner of Woodenapples (yes I'm egotistical enough to google my own shop). I'm very sorry we were closed when you popped by, a lot of our crew has been sick as of late and it's messing with the shop hours.
Sorry again and I hope you had a nice trip.

Oh fun, I love that previous comment!! Small world...

Is the birthday girl your daughter? If so, happy birthday! Last I saw a pic of her (that one with the orange hat I so loved), she had much shorter hair. If I'm completely wrong and missed something, just ignore my blathering...

We aren't receiving snow around here any longer but I have to tell you, I miss it!! I swear, I must move north---I'm so much of a winter person...

Hi all! We'll be back Amy no fears... And Amber, yes this birthday girl is my daughter Sophie, the orange hat girl is Sadie,my son's once-girlfriend. I think I wasn't clear about that before. Sophie has the orange hat now, so she can go hunting in Montréal!Hunting at woodenapples!
We're getting more snow Saturday! Yipee!

You should check out Headquarters Gallery and Boutique on Amherst the next time you are in Montreal. They are a bit more 'indie designer' compared to Wooden Apple's 'indie crafter' vibe, but they have beautiful stuff and, as the name suggests, includes the artwork in their gallery.
(Full disclosure, I also love them because they are located across the street from my apartment and are super friendly.)

Hey thanks for the tip Jordan! I will be sure and go to Headquarters Gallery and Boutique and wave to you while I'm there!

This made me laugh, because the parking really is so terrible here! Every time it snows I see these poor people spending hours digging out their cars and I feel all smug about being able to get everywhere on foot or by metro. I'm sure karma will send me to some terrible, hard-to-reach suburb.
