Not True

I have always harbored the idea that if I lived alone, my house would be as neat as a pin. A place for everything, everything in its place. As it turns out, there is just yarn everywhere. And pencils, magazines, knitting, fashion and art books on every surface, tape measures everywhere, and maybe not balled socks and power tools, but a litter of stitch markers and dangerous pins.

I would move in a bed and just live in the kitchen if it were only me.

Guess what? A clever woman made a sensational necklace using the knitted eyeball pattern, she's entered whipup's whiplash contest. Take a look and be prepared to be awed, it is so very Prada!

I have to laugh because I know this yarn mess too well. If anyone saw my desk they would scream...it seems I need to have everything out in order to work. Oh and my bed too is piled high with yarn.

The eyeball looks pretty fancy in all gold.

Have been wanting to say hello for a while. You know my place is a creative mess too with on going projects here and there. I have been enjoying your blog having found it through whipup and the olives.

Your "mess" seems to have a very clear and beautiful order to me. I'd take that any day over the mess I have to get rid of in the next few days: a combination of cat fur, bills and power tools.

The necklace is gorgeous!

What - no yarn in pots on the stove?

Nothing wrong with lots of yarn! Yarn isn't messy, it's skeined and pretty. The only messy yarn is tangled yarn. You could have cubbies to put all the yarn in against the walls (in the blank areas)so it could do double duty as insulation. I bet yarn addicts would pay handsomely for a place that had stash space already built in. Besides who says yarn needs to be in a specific spot? A yarns place is in the home, where ever it ends up.

Well I think that it looks like a welcoming home. Would love to sit around that drinking tea table with you, knitting and chatting, knitting and chatting!

I understand you soooo well, I'm having the same problem at home! (yarn everywhere, piles of books, ...). In case you find a remedy please tell me ;-))

Thanks for all your comments. Its comforting to know that I'm not alone in my, spread it all out, system of working, Kat! Eliza,I feel for you! My husband is returning after a month away, so power tools are on their way back into our house! And Ms, Jammy, yarn is pretty isn't it! So we should just embrace it, plan to have it scattered everywhere, like fresh flowers, that is the answer prunila. Alison, please come for tea, that goes for all of you. Even Petula! Who just may see yarn on the stove, I once was a fierce "natural dyer of wool". Check out prunila's blog to see how its done!

Oh how I would love to feel "safe" to leave my yarn lying around without being daubed with ketchup, knocked on to the floor to be covered in dog hair, or "lost" in the recycling bag with the mountain of newspapers!

Do we require much more than a bed and a bathroom when there's so much yarn in the world? I love the color and texture of your walls.

Hello! Your home looks like a little heaven for creativy, it is so great! I like knitting too, and when sales are coming I can't resist to buy a few yarns which are just alone, so I never know what to do with, but they are just so nice!

Now I know where we "met", on Flirck!

Concerning my cake on my blog: Yes indeed it is a roof tile! In fact this cake called "Le Creusois" after the name of this area was invented a long time ago by monks. it is made of hazelnuts because there are plenty over here and at the time they used to cook it in a tile.
So in summer tile I visited a tile factory (now a very interesting and lively museum: la Tuilerie de Pouligny)in the area and there were selling those special tiles with little sides to bake this local cake; yesterday was the first time I made, and it is georgous. If you wish I can translate the recipe in English.

Have a good day! Nice to meet you!

Emilie.

Yeah, I thought I would be neat & clean by myself, too. However, since I now have a room all to myself I look around and there's sewing supplies, yarn, and books *everywhere!!* I guess I'm not as neat as I thought. And I have to admit I've went to bed more than once with my knitting bag next to me!
