Whip up a Mini Quilt
Well you can say one thing about my Whipup entries, I do whip them up. This months challenge was a mini quilt. I've make quite a few quilts in my time and so left the project till the last moment, as usual, or rather in the spirit of the challenge. And then I found myself floundering? What does mini mean? How d'ya make mitered corners again? Where are the rulers? So I improvised...I sewed together strips, cut them and sewed again to get squares. I used masking tape and a 2x4 as rulers. I cheated the corners. And all in all I'm pleased with my presto!-dolly quilt...but is it mini?NO! re-reading the competition...it's MINIATURE.
And boo hoo...I'm too late...Aussie time I guess....

Beautiful quilt! I love it...and your dollies seem very pleased too. The colors are so lovely! :)
Maybe you could pass it on to the bats?
How delightful to find your blog and recognise your darling creations - I love the quilt too :)
Love how those colours work together Mary Jane. Would love to have a go at one myslef at some point. Well done you!
Marie Jane I just discovered your blog, it is gorgeous, I wouldn't have imagined that a blog could be so fascinating. I love it!! Soso (hello from france ;-)
Thank you all and "hello" to France! The little quilt was fun to make despite my having forgotten everything I once knew about quilt making. I'm using it for dollies and a place mat! The bats will have to make their own. Besides, they're pretty furry little mammals!
Excellent! Yeah, I had those same questions recently. Mitred corners are great but sneaky: so easy when you know *how*, so impossible if you forget the trick. I applaud your fast method and cheating ways.
(bloglines is still not picking up my feed -- I'm posting, though!)
Love those colors and sock monkeys - always an inspired choice!
hey MJ its me still reading your blog and loving it!keep up the good work. E.
