Do You Do This?

Do you do this? Bring projects along with you even when you know you will have no opportunity to do any knitting at all? Not even a stitch? I am the master of this. I bring along notebooks and graph paper, a project or two, and lately a camera. I have been known to lug around several bags full of "might needs". Heavy bags. You'd think I was on a styling job to see me. Juggling take-out tea, cursing while the bags slip from my shoulder. But leave them at home? Never. They are a little security in a hectic world...One glance at that future tam, or cheerful striped sock and I feel...safe...! Is that crazy? It really does make me feel safe.

HA! Someone else like myself! I brought my daughter to Boyton McKay today for lunch and along came my large leather tote full of knitting projects which sat behind my stool on the ground. I did not knit a single stitch but I did trip on the bag while refilling my water.

Yes! I almost always have a little sock or something going in my purse, even if there's no chance that I'm going to be knitting where I'm going. I hardly ever need my insurance card either, but it's always in my wallet, you know, just in case.

I did it today. I lugged Nerissa with me even though I knew I'd either eat and walk or eat and read at lunch today. There will be no knitting over dinner with a friend tonight, so why did I bother? Just in case the opportunity arose, I suppose.

I sure do do this - I have little projects stashed in bags and drawers in all sorts of unlikely places.

Yes, I do the same thing. But sometimes I'm really glad I did! Like the time I went to have dinner with a friend - about a half hour drive from me. When did I think I was going to knit? But on the way home, there was a MAJOR traffic jam. I was stuck on the on ramp to the highway for about half an hour. No movement at all. No worries - I just put it in 'park', switched on the interior light and knit away. Had I not had my knitting with me I am pretty sure I would have been going out of my mind. So, yes, safe is the right term.

That tam is so pretty it makes me feel warm and safe. Or at least happy. It's gorgeous!

Hey You Guys! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I won't stop anytime soon I know.I figure at the very least it is good exercise, however odd I may appear to any observer!

I have to add, anon. I step on my bag too, sometimes more than I take anything out of it!

YES YES YES. I feel like a turtle because usually i have a backpack with everything i MIGHT just have time for... knitting... a book... journal... camera... Etc. Good thing I don't sew, because the sewing machine would really break my back! ;)

And what is that beautiful fair isle thing you're making? I love love love the colors!
