Fear no More

A sight like this once struck fear in my heart. Just a glance would cause paralysis. Icy dread. Moaning and thrashing, please, please, not weaving in ends.
Now I don't care any more. Oh...those ends?... Yeah?...so what.... I accept that it requires a special time just for them. I don't even really think of it as part of a project...They are separate...something altogether different from knitting. Turn on the radio, pop in a book on tape or listen to a podcast, and give yourself over to a "special day" or at least few hours (its always longer than you imagine) devoted to those rascally bits of yarn.

I've never figured out how to so that properly - mine always look bulky and awful. I'm still at the terrified stage, then.

Finishing anything is always the most difficult part for me ...I've lost interest by then.
These colours are beautiful.I'm intrigued to see what the other side looks like.

I feel a seizure coming on. Thankfully, I am somewhat distracted by the pretty colors.

Oh, it's so pretty. I admit, I get pretty annoyed with the ends by the time I get about 1/3 of them done on a fair isle garment. Still, the thing that really saddens me is how weaving in the ends interrupts the gorgeous weaves and seams--it looks so pretty before that.

It is a tiresome chore, since I've tried to divorce it from the pleasure of sweater knitting, I find its not so bad. I hated finishing too until I decided it was a separate thing, now I don't mind it so much...except it makes me go blind... and Miss F, I can't show you yet, in September.

I'm getting near the end of my first Fair Isle sweater, and I am wondering about ALL THOSE ENDS! I don't like weaving in ends - it always looks ugly to me and I'm never sure of my technique - and ohmygod there are a lot of ends with Fair Isle. And I was thinking Fair Isle was a piece of cake, until I started seeing all those ends accumulate. Hm...

Jennhx, Yep, they sure add up. especially if you are like me and want to add just one more color. maybe i'll try and do a tutorial on the subject. Really you just have to take your time and find your groove, I get in kind of a trance, hours are gone, and I'm left with foggy sight and stiff limbs, but a beautiful garment.
