What Glue Stick is For

what glue stick is for
I make my charts the old fashioned way, by hand. I cut and paste a lot.

What software for mac do you recommend? I'm thinking of modernizing my design process.

My pencils will be lonley.

ah. Of course.
I used to edit my papers in college that way. The one about Peter the great's educational reforms and the gold age of russian literature ate up one whole glue stick.

I use knit visualizer, but I hate some of the symbols. Kate uses illustrator. I'm not sure how she does it, but her charts always looks so awesome.

this process looks familiar. it works for me but seems very very slow. i'm always imagining how much faster everyone else works.

I like Stitchpainter for the kind of charting you are doing. It's just basic colors and symbols but not really good for knitting symbols. I have Stitch Motif Maker for cables, etc. I am not very computer literate. Stitchpainter is much easier for me to use so I tend to use it a lot more. Hope this helps, Judy

Thanks for asking this question. I've been musing about the same thing. Pencils and graph paper have some tactile appeal but take too long.
When you choose something to use, would you share your experience with us, please

I would love to know what software you end up, I'm on a mac also. I know a lot of people use Excel, like unionpurl. She draws by hand and then transfers to excel. Excel seems pretty confusing to me.

Oh you've totally made my day, introducing me to those two amazing artists! Really inspiring. Wow. I think it must be fun to wear those fringy pom pom costumes, really get your swagger on.
thank you
thank you
and it is nice to see those hand drawn charts, we use the same pencils, but you seem much more orderly than me!

Hi there! Another Stitchpainter for Mac user here. What I like about it...it's easy!, it lets me create a custom color palette, which is nice, and if I want to add symbols or text, I copy and paste into another application, like Illustrator

Where oh where did you get that wonderful, colorful calculator?

The swell calculator was purchased in a cute store in Montreal, on St. Laurent, that I don't know the name of...I got the mini one in Quebec City. They both also sell the hand-cranked black cat flashlight (the eyes shine)...I know this does not help at all. The only identifying marks are on the back: CE...I got nothing useful when I googled it. Sorry!
